Roadmap for IT engineers while studying college
Roadmap — exploring a path with a set of pre-defined things to be done in the upcoming times.
Roadmap is like getting inputs from people who already explored a path, where they would have got some inputs from previous experts.
This is like an algorithm which gets modified each and every year with new components and features.
I am not going to define a roadmap categorizing specific things that has to be done on respective years. Why, because it completely depends on your way of approach as people can only tell you but its shaped according to you work method and flow. These things are mainly for discovering yourself.
1. Coding –
At present there is normal coding, no-code building, vibe coding… In normal coding if you decide to take up a language there are some many. In terms of building applications with tech stacks or frameworks there are still lot more. WRT coding what I would say is first identify whether you want build applications or solve high potential problems or competitive programming or learning about technological domains such as blockchain, cloud etc more.
2. Freelancing –
This may act as your first level of income in your life. How to start this is by doing projects initially, building a profile full of works and skills. Then by internal and external networking you will reach out to clients and then further if they feel good and sure about you, agreements will be processed further.
3. Side Hustle –
This concept can be referred in different ways. Side hustle can be like doing a mini project while studying your college course, writing or designing posts is also can be side hustle, or selling templates on platforms for making money is also referred as side hustle. I my opinion be clear for what reason you do a side hustle on a particular skill of work.
4. Notion –
It has a lot of use cases for a school / college student. With it students can use it as a productivity workspace for their field, act as a creator by creating conceptual templates for selling purposes, pages can be hosted inside by notion itself, if you are using super.so with notion you can build websites for your own needs or clients as it is super easy to build and works well for certain use case projects.
5. Building your own Community –
This has the potential to act as a game changer in your field of life. For example, you may be in the field of designing / coding / writing etc anything. Building your own community in your field or wrt your project works is a key factor. You can create your own work-related social profiles and engage with people present in your field. Sharing your own thoughts, interacting with doubts and ideas will develop your own audience.
6. Initiatives –
You can start initiatives in your college regarding sustainable goals, health awareness, business pitching events etc more. You can start your own idea of business or initiative as a company via government registered process.
7. Internships –
Why internships are crucial because they act as your real world work experience. If you are reading this article while studying college means one best tip I can offer is if you are doubting yourself regarding skills, Will I get this or not? Will I be rejected at first itself… just apply for your stream of role / experience, attend and progress further this act as a real game changer for your life.
8. Paid Courses & Internet Resources –
As we know knowledge is wealth, claiming the knowledge either through paid service or with internet resource is wise option only. Each person’s teaching way and method differs from very other. So choose the resource for your stream which will be able to make you learn the subject because as it acts only as an investment regarding your career progress.
9. Creative Works –
It includes many fields such as blogging, writing, painting, composing music extra more. Don’t just think why should an IT student do such things, as your field of interest may apply in 2 or 3 more fields. If you had failed to discover in your younger times means this can be crucial. They not only act as an hobby or secondary skill. It can also make money by side hustle working on the field.
10. Competitions –
Here also there are sub categories like hackathons, competitive coding, project building etc more. Choose which area you want in this to gain experience regarding developing applications or solving real world problems or getting mentorship from experts regarding your personal project in competitions like hackathons.
11. Core Subjects –
Every field of study or domain has its own core subjects. Why have I mentioned these core subjects because not for everyone out here will be figuring out their career path as their field name like IT means coding not like so. Some may get interested in the field of networking ie computer networks or cloud computing core subjects of computer engineering.
These things gets shaped according to your dream way of living life.
